PP plate in the plating tank industry application, in the production of electroplating tanks in the factory, in order to prevent acid and alkali corrosion in addition to other aspects of the requirements, the general use of PP material, thickness range from 10-15mm. PP can be simply understood as plastic, but do you know its chemical composition and physical properties?
PP is a semi crystalline material. It is harder than PE and has a higher melting point. Because the PP temperature of the homopolymer is more brittle than above 0 degrees C, many commercial PP materials are irregular copolymers with 1~4% ethylene or a higher ratio of ethylene content of the pliers.
The copolymer type PP material has lower thermal distortion temperature (100 degree), low transparency, low gloss and low rigidity, but has stronger impact strength. The strength of PP increases with the increase of ethylene content. The softening temperature of VEKA in PP is 150 C. Because of the high crystallinity, the material has good surface stiffness and scratch resistance. There is no environmental stress cracking in PP. In general, PP is modified by adding glass fiber, metal additive or thermoplastic rubber. The flow rate of PP is MFR in the range of 1~40. Low MFR PP material has better impact resistance but lower extension strength. For materials with the same MFR, the strength of copolymer type is higher than that of homopolymer. Because of the crystallization, the shrinkage rate of PP is quite high, generally 1.8~2.5%. And the direction uniformity of shrinkage rate is much better than that of PE-HD and other materials. Adding 30% of glass additives can reduce the shrinkage rate to 0.7%. Homopolymer and copolymer PP materials have excellent resistance to moisture absorption, acid and alkali resistance and solubility. However, it has no resistance to aromatic hydrocarbons, such as solvents, chlorinated hydrocarbons, carbon tetrachloride, etc. PP is also not as high as PE, and it still has high oxidation resistance at high temperature.
Polypropylene (PP) is a lighter type of common plastics. It has excellent electrical properties and can be used as a high humidity insulation material for damp heat. PP is a crystalline polymer. When the melt condenses, it has larger shrinkage ratio (1.0%-1.5%) because of larger volume change and higher molecular orientation. PP has little effect on viscosity when heated in molten state. Therefore, in molding process, we should increase injection pressure and shear rate, so as to improve the molding quality of products.
